Mercom Capital Reports Solar Companies Raise $34.3 Billion in Corporate Funding in 2023

Mercom Capital Group, a global clean energy communications and consulting firm, released its annual report on funding and merger and acquisition activity for the solar sector in 2023. Total corporate funding, including venture capital funding, public market, and debt financing into the solar sector, increased 42% year-over-year in 2023, with $34.3 billion raised in 160 deals, compared to $24.1 billion in 175 deals in 2022. This was the largest amount raised in over a decade.

Vattenfall and Renewi, a leading waste-to-product company, have started a sustainable new partnership. Vattenfall will purchase more than 7.5 million m3 of green gas annually from Renewi. The green gas made from food waste is added to the regular Dutch gas network, where it mixes with the natural gas and thus makes the gas mix more sustainable.

For almost one month, Bunker One has supplied B100 biofuel to Color Line’s SuperSpeed 1 and 2 ferries travelling between Hirtshals in Denmark and Larvik and Kristiansand in Norway. US DOE Finalizes Efficiency Standards for Appliances

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced two energy-efficiency actions that will save Americans billions of dollars on their utility bills, while significantly cutting energy waste and harmful carbon pollution. The final standards for residential refrigerators and freezers are Congressionally-mandated and reflect a joint recommendation from a wide range of stakeholders, including the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, Consumer Federation of America, and energy efficiency advocates. Together, these updated standards are expected to reduce nearly 420 million metric tons of dangerous carbon dioxide emissions cumulatively over 30 years, which is equivalent to the combined annual emissions of nearly 53 million homes.  

JA Solar Successfully Completes the Shipment of All N-Type Modules for ACWA Power Solar Project

JA Solar has successfully completed the shipment of all n-type modules for the ACWA Power solar project in Tashkent, Uzbekistan with the arrival of the freight train loaded with its modules. The project agreement was signed between ACWA Power and National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan and Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade. China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited contracted and constructed the project, and JA Solar supplies all the 240MW PV modules for it.
