Trump Says Israel Can ‘Finish The Job’ In Gaza If Hamas Rejects Latest Plan
President Donald Trump says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accepted the latest U.S.-backed “peace plan,” which is ostensibly aimed at securing a ceasefire in Gaza.
Trump made the announcement during a joint press conference with Netanyahu, which followed a White House meeting between the two leaders. It’s Netanyahu’s fourth trip to Washington since Trump began his term in January.
During the meeting, Trump facilitated an Oval Office phone call between Netanyahu and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, in which the Israeli leader apologized for the September 9 attack on Doha.
Netanyahu expressed regret about the strikes and, specifically, “that, in targeting Hamas leadership during hostage negotiations, Israel violated Qatari sovereignty,” according to a White House readout of the phone call.

‘A Recipe For Igniting West Asia’: Palestinians React To Trump’s Plan
Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza have condemned the “peace plan” introduced by US President Donald Trump on 29 September, calling it “vague” and accusing it of supporting Israeli aims to prolong the genocide in Gaza.
“We will not accept any proposal that does not include the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and protection from massacres,” Hamas leader Mahmoud Mardawi declared, adding that Trump's announcement “is an attempt to stifle international momentum and recognition of the Palestinian state.”
Qatari and Egyptian officials delivered the US-Israeli plan to Hamas’s negotiating team overnight, according to Al-Jazeera.
The Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), Ziad al-Nakhala, blasted the proposal, calling it "a US-Israeli agreement, reflecting Israel’s full stance.”

One Dead, Nearly 100 Arrested: Heavy Repression Of Protests In Ecuador
A week since protests began in Ecuador against the decision by Daniel Noboa’s right-wing government to eliminate the diesel subsidy, nearly 100 people have been detained and one person was killed by police repression. The nationwide protests kicked off after Marlon Vargas, president of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE), Ecuador’s most important social movement, called on all sectors of society to take to the streets and reject the move by Noboa.
On September 28, the news broke that 46-year-old worker Efraín Fueres died during the protests in Cotacachi, in the province of Imbabura. According to CONAIE, Fueres was killed by the military after being shot three times. “We demand truth, justice, and reparations. This state crime will not go unpunished. There is no turning back or forgiveness for state crimes,” CONAIE wrote on X.

Chris Hedges Report: It’s Time To Fight Back Against Trump’s Fascist Regime
Ralph Nader, consumer advocate, corporate critic and former presidential candidate, asks these questions to demonstrate how Americans often sell themselves short regarding their power as citizens.
Nader, whose life-long mission has been to empower people to fight back against corrupt politicians and greedy corporate criminals, joins host Chris Hedges on this episode of The Chris Hedges Report to continue to spread this message at a critical juncture in American politics.
With Donald Trump’s increasing fascistic repression and an impending government shutdown, Nader offers a roadmap for how both government officials and ordinary people can fight back.
His latest book, Citizen Self-Respect, serves as a call to action, arguing that Americans must not passively allow the Trump administration and corporate elites to consolidate their power.

Portland Stands Against Trump’s Threat To Deploy Troops To City
Portland, OR – On September 28, hundreds of protesters gathered in front of the Portland ICE facility to stand against Trump’s deployment of federal troops to Portland. The protest was called by Portland Contra Las Deportaciones (PDXCD) in collaboration with other groups such as Portland for Palestine, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization and PDX ICE Watch.
The protest came a day after city officials convened a press conference at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Northeast Portland to reject the federal occupation, but they also called for a hands-off approach in resisting.
“We are not going to take the bait,” said U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley during the press conference, “This is the ‘don’t take the bait’ press conference. Our responsibility is to yes, express our views, yes protest. But best done at a distance from these federal troops.”

Trump Continues US Violation Of UN Charter’s Limits On Use Of Force
In his inflammatory September 23 speech to the United Nations General Assembly, Donald Trump expressed contempt for the UN, falsely claiming he had ended seven wars and stating, “I realized that the United Nations wasn’t there for us. I thought of it really after the fact … that being the case, what is the purpose of the United Nations?”
If Trump studied history, he would know the answer to that question.
Eighty years ago, after two world wars claimed millions of lives, nations around the world — including the United States — came together and established the UN system “to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war.”
The UN Charter requires that all states settle their disputes peacefully and refrain from the use of armed force except in self-defense under Article 51, after an armed attack against a UN state by another state, or when the Security Council authorizes it.

Venezuela Resistance Meeting In New York City Sets A New Tone
A packed Assembly Hall at the prestigious Riverside Church in Manhattan was draped in Venezuelan colors and flags of resistance on Thursday, September 25.

The September 25 event was a determined public meeting of forces who refuse to be silent in the face of President Trump’s violent military attacks on Venezuela and threatened repression of left forces in the U.S.
The solidarity meeting with the Venezuelan delegation to the United Nations General Assembly High Level Session was the initiative of Dozthor Zurlent of the Simon Bolivar Institute and William Camacaro of Bolivarian Circle in New York.

Labor Signs On To Save Medicare
In 1965, President Johnson signed Medicare into law, establishing the right to quality healthcare for millions of retired Americans. The labor movement was essential in passing this landmark legislation. It took decades of organizing—with labor working side by side with the Civil Rights and other social movements—to win one of the most robust public health programs in U.S. history.
Now, Medicare is under attack: Profiteering corporations are promoting Medicare Advantage plans as an alternative to Medicare. But Medicare Advantage is not Medicare, it is a privatization scheme that funnels tax dollars through insurance companies to move enrollees into private insurance plans, undermining Medicare.

Trump Plan Accelerates Assault On Section 8 Housing
The Trump administration is escalating its efforts to dismantle federal rental assistance, targeting the Housing Choice Voucher Program—commonly known as Section 8—through budget cuts, new eligibility requirements, and sweeping administrative directives. The changes could displace millions of households, including families with children, seniors, disabled tenants, and low-wage workers.
The Housing Choice Voucher Program is the largest federal rental assistance initiative, serving approximately 2.3 million low-income households across the country. According to data cited by USAFacts, the program provides stable housing to 2.7 percent of U.S. residents. Nearly a quarter of those living in subsidized housing have a disability, 33 percent of households include minor children, 74 percent are headed by women, 41 percent are headed by people over the age of 62, and 66 percent are headed by people of color.

Financing Our Own Destruction
Billionaire private equity executive Antonio Gracias has had a busy year.
In March, as part of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Gracias was sent in search of supposed fraud at the Social Security Administration. A few weeks later — at a rally with his longtime friend and then-head of DOGE, Elon Musk — Gracias claimed to have found it. Echoing a right-wing conspiracy theory, Gracias said an increase in Social Security numbers assigned to noncitizens looked like a move to “import voters.”
In fact, eligible non-citizens are routinely assigned Social Security numbers as part of the federal work authorization process, but they cannot vote. Undocumented immigrants pay billions into Social Security each year but cannot receive benefits.
